At St John’s we’d like to do everything we can to help you fulfil those promises, and as part of that we expect to see the children and parents in church on a regular basis. This is one of the traditional roles of the parish priest that is also shared by other members of St Johns, and is valued by those who are housebound or infirm; it is done on a request basis rather than mechanically working our way through the electoral roll ...in other words, if you would value a visit, feel free to get in touch with Fr. Andrew via the Contact Us page; he is always happy to sit with or visit or talk to or pray with people who ask or who have a specific thing they want to share. Additionally, St Johns, on one Sunday each month, serves Communion to people in a number of care homes in St Leonards. Prayer is a vital foundation for the life of St Johns. It naturally forms part of our church services and at specific times (for example, after some of our evening services) we meet as a congregation to do nothing else but pray. You are of course welcome to be a part of that. In addition, we run a number of Prayer Chains. These work on a simple principle. If a church member has something they would like us to pray about - family, work, illness, or whatever - We have organised this area of our work into the following areas.... they simply contact the leader of their Prayer Chain. He or she picks up the phone and contacts the first person on a list of about 10 people; the first person contacts the second, who contacts the third and so on. We also run a Prayer Diary, which is a methodical way of covering the parish with prayer every month, including every road, names on our Electoral Roll and other Hastings Churches. If you are interested in joining one of our Prayer Chains, further information is available via the Contact Us page. |
